We participated in solidarity with It Takes Roots in the largest Climate March ever on the West Coast (30,000+ ppl). Our peoples rose for Climate, Jobs, and Justice as part of a global day of action demanding our elected leaders to commit to no new fossil fuels and a just and fair transition to 100% renewable energy. We then challenged false solutions at the Global Climate Action Summit that acts more as a trade show as opposed to offering real solutions to stop global warming.
The #RiseForClimate Jobs and Justice March was led by the indigenous bloc with leaders in the movement based locally, nationally as well as internationally. Desirae Harp (Wappo/Dine/Audiopharmacy/Run4Salmon ) blessed the march and called in the ancestors as she helped to lead the procession with songs to honor the earth, the ancestors, the water, those we have lost, and those who rise up. Tens of thousands gathered in solidarity to rise for climate and against climate capitalism. It was a beautiful day in San Francisco (9/8/18) and a beautiful week.
